WASHINGTON -- The 24th annual Minority Enterprise Development (MED Week 2006) Conference took place during the week of August 28th honoring entrepreneurs of color and emerging business student leaders. This year\'s conference theme was \"Mastering the Supply Chain," and included high energy, transformational speeches from George Fraser, founder of Power Networking Conferences and Robert Wallace, author of Strategic Partnerships, Black Wealth, Soul Food and the Ssese Principles and owner of The BiTH Group and a healthy supply of business to business networking.
The National Institute for Urban Entrepreneurship, during MED Week 2006, successfully mentored several emerging business student leaders, attended numerous supply chain sessions, participated in the MED Week Business Expo and power networking events. Of special note, forty eight students participated in this year's Emerging Business Leaders Summit, which was organized by Carlos Guzman, Program Manager of the EBLS. This year, NIUE mentee student protégées included, Cherylynn Shaw, from Richland College by way of Xavier University, Quinn Conyers, Howard University and Alonzo Blalock from Grambling University. All of the Emerging Business Student Leaders and small businesses were recognized at the MED Week 2006 GALA Friday evening.
